More than a few things are defined by what they contain.

The President steps aboard an aircraft and all of a sudden the aircraft becomes the presidential jet.

A bride steps into a white dress and that dress becomes a bridal gown.

The CIA enters information on a hard drive and that document is labeled classified.

The Holy Spirit enters a person and that person becomes a new creation.

Just take a close look and you can tell the huge difference.

Stay with someone for a while and you can tell the stuff they are made of, and when they’re stuffed with God the Spirit, it’s no different.

Abide in me that I may abide in you.

Jesus wasn’t kidding when He spoke of the Holy Spirit.

On any given day, living the Christian life is akin to driving down an expressway in first gear.

Without the helper, faith is an impossible journey and righteousness a peak we cannot even attempt to touch.

It’s not that being a Christian is tough. It’s impossible.

Most of Christ’s teachings go against our natural instincts.

Forgiveness, compassion and love are not really the default mode of most of us in a dog-eat-dog world.

God who makes all things possible knows this, and that’s why He gave us the extraordinary gift of Himself for our daily walk.

God’s Spirit doesn’t remove the situations we face – most of the time.

He just alters our perspective to the situation at hand.

Of course there is the occasional jaw-dropping miracle that occurs every once in a while.

Mostly though, He lives out His name as our helper.

He helps us to cope

He helps us to pray

He helps us through

He helps us go

On most days, I can use all the help I can get. That’s probably true for you too.

A loving God gives us a race to run and sends us the help we need to run it.

That’s something to be thankful for

That’s a lot to be thankful for.

He’s not a dove.

He’s a person.

He’s God’s gift to us.

Be grateful.
